Alexandrina Hawea

Drina, like our other Ngai Tāmanuhiri artists Derek Lardelli and Steve Gibbs, is left-handed. She often refers to her left-handedness as ‘cack-handed’.

Drina is a passionate weaver, precise, detailed and dedicated to whatever she is working on at the time.

Like Nanny Kui, she submitted a phenomenal amount of work for Toi Tāmanuhiri, resulting in the powerful potae installation that featured in the Tairāwhiti Museum exhibition.
